I wanted Derek Shepherd to say “Fetch” before he hit the ring with the baseball bat. And Patrick Dempsey said, in the name of ALL men, he could not be responsible for saying that to a woman. And I give him credit for that. I was a super fan of “Fetch!”. But he said: “I can’t go home to my wife or look at my daughter if I say ‘Fetch!’ before I hit the ring”. And he said, that Derek Shepherd will go dark. He can’t go down that far, he can’t do that. So the baseball bat said it all and Patrick sold it without having to say that horrible phrase.

While we admired he brought more and the soft rich heap mounted higher — shirts with stripes and scrolls and plaids in coral and apple-green and lavender and faint orange, and monograms of Indian blue. Suddenly, with a strained sound, Daisy bent her head into the shirts and began to cry stormily.
“They’re such beautiful shirts,” she sobbed, her voice muffled in the thick folds. “It makes me sad because I’ve never seen such — such beautiful shirts before.”
